| New York Loft
Appalachian State University has a loft in New York that is used yearly for class trips to visit galleries, museums and artist’s studios. This provides students with low cost accommodations and other opportunities including visits to galleries and museums, graphic design consultancies, and studios of practicing artists. Art department faculty regularly take students on regional and national trips to introduce them to the diverse world of art.
Study AbroadThe Art Department encourages and supports students who wish to study abroad. The Art department offers yearly international trips to introduce students to an increasingly global world of art. International travel, internships, course credits and exchange programs are also available.
Students wishing to study abroad must go to the Office of International Education and Development to begin the application process.

Internships
The purpose of the internship is to provide a transition from the university to a professionally job experience with artist, museums, galleries, and business related to the promotion of art professions. The student will work under the guidance and supervision of a professional practitioner and an art faculty member.
