About ITC
Normal / Inverse / Text

In 1970 Appalachian adopted the Learning Resource model bringing together print materials and library holdings with educational media production and consultation. This move was based on the fact that the availability of information went hand in hand with its production on a university campus and that the university community should have access to both in the same location. At its inception, AV Services offered equipment checkout and repair, basic photography, offset printing and a few transparencies and was housed in Belk Library and had a satellite lab in the College of Education in Duncan Hall.

After 30 years of evolution and innovation and a few name changes, ITC has grown into a comprehensive and professional organization staffed by skilled employees offering many diverse and up to date services dealing with communication and the production of modern and sophisticated mediums.

Our mission has, through the years, been based on a philosophy of service and research. We attempt to offer solutions to the educational challenges of information sharing and successful teaching and learning. We try to balance the newest technology with tried and true pedagogical methods. The needs of the University community has always determined our direction. As the digital age has revolutionized popular culture it has also impacted education. ITC is committed to bringing substantial knowledge and expertise to this challenge.
