Great Blue Lobelia Lobelia siphilitica

These plants are grow 1 - 3 feet tall, with toothed, alternate leaves. The flowers are deep blue, 2-lipped,
and bloom August through October. It grows in moist meadows and along streams. The Iriquois used the roots
of this plant to cure syphilis. In England, around 1800, tests were run on the Great Blue Lobelia to see if
that was true. The results were negative.
