SOPHOMORE PLANNING SHEET SPRING 2009

PRE-ENGINEERING

For those who have completed the Freshman Pre-Engineering courses we recommend that you follow the following schedule. It is tailored for those who are going to transfer to any of the Colleges of Engineering at a North Carolina System University.

Also, make sure that you have applied for admission to a college of engineering by early November and have arranged to have your transcript sent. Given below are three elective lists (designated by *, ** and ***) applicable to those transferring to NCSU.

FALL SEM HRS SPRING SEM HRS

* CHE 1102/1120 should be taken only by those applying for Aerospace, Biological, Chemical, Environmental, Material Science or Nuclear Engineering. For all other engineering disciplines you may take an elective course from the Science, Technology in Society and Culture area or the Philosophy, Religion and Visually Performing Arts area. We recommend P&R 3600. (see the NCSU Pre-Engineering Course List)

** Depending on whether you choose the LITERATURE or HISTORY sequence, you must take the advanced level course in that same area and time/discipline period.

*** For all engineering disciplines except Biological, Environmental and Computer Engineering or Computer Science, then we recommend PHY 2010, otherwise you should take an elective from the SOCIAL SCIENCE area. We recommend ECO 2030. If you take PHY 2010, then we recommend PHY 2020 or ECO 2030 during the Spring term. (See the reverse side for specific courses in each area.)

NOTE: Before finishing any curriculum at NCSU, one must complete a non-english speaking culture course. In addition one must complete a foreign requirement. For more course details see the NCSU Pre-Engineering Course List.
