OBTAINING A MINOR IN POLITICAL SCIENCE

A minor in political science consists of eighteen hours of political science courses. Either PS 1100 (Introduction to American National Government and Politics) OR PS 1000 (Introduction to Political Science is required. Fifteen hours of electives remain. Nine hours of course work must be taken at the 3000-4000 level and must be distributed across at least THREE AREAS (or sub fields) of political science. Two other elective courses of the student’s choice must be taken to complete the fifteen hours of electives.

The minor in political science consists of:

PS 1100 or PS 1000 + 9 hours (from three subfields with a combination of at least three courses at the 3000-4000 level) + 6 hours of electives

OBTAINING A MINOR IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE

A minor in criminal justice consists of eighteen hours of criminal justice course work. The following courses are REQUIRED for the criminal justice minor:

_____ CJ 1100 (3): Introduction to Criminal Justice

_____ CJ 2120 (3): Police Process

_____ CJ 2430 (3): Corrections

_____ CJ 3551 (3): Criminal Law

Students may select six hours of criminal justice electives to complete the minor. The six hours may be drawn from any criminal justice permanent course offerings or from selected topics in criminal justice.
