Kulynych/Cline Distinguished Professorship

Through the generous contributions of the Kulynych and Cline families, the Wiley F. Smith Department of Psychology has established the Kulynych/Cline Distinguished Professorship. The mission of this professorship is to foster relationships between nationally and internationally recognized scholars and teachers at other institutions and the faculty and students at Appalachian State University, thereby enriching the intellectual and professional environment of the Department.

Currently, the Department of Psychology at Appalachian State University invites applications for a 1 to 3 year appointment at the rank of Professor beginning August 2012. The successful applicant is expected to have the appropriate terminal degree in Psychology or an allied field.  The Kulynych/Cline Distinguished Professor is expected to engage in scholarly activity that promotes the visibility of Appalachian State University in the professional community. Responsibilities include contributing to the undergraduate and graduate curriculum, developing a colloquium series featuring prominent scholars, teaching one course each semester related to his or her field of expertise, and collaborating with faculty in scholarly activities that support the mission of Appalachian State’s Department of Psychology.

Applicants are nominated (or self-nominated).  To express interest or to recommend a candidate, complete a nomination form. Electronic nominations will be accepted in doc or pdf format. 

Review of nominations will begin immediately.  Qualified nominees will be invited to submit a full application, consisting of a curriculum vitae, statement of teaching and research interests, photocopy of graduate transcripts, and three letters of recommendation.  Review of completed applications and decisions to invite candidates will begin on January 17, 2012.
