| Research Interests |
My research agenda focuses on classroom context factors that impact the achievement motivation and academic engagement of children. In my past work, I have examined the social and motivational characteristics of children who influence and conform in the academic domain, with a special focus on the role of peers. Currently, I am exploring the effects of classroom teaching and assessment strategies on the motivation of children, and I intend to simultaneously consider the role of peers and teachers in future studies of engagement and motivation. My overarching goal is to isolate mechanisms in the laboratory that can be adapted for use in the classroom in ways that encourage children to embrace the task of learning.
