Research
Undergraduate Research PresentationThe Department offers numerous opportunities for students to engage in research under the direction of a faculty member. Both graduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to look for opportunities that match their area of interest. Undergraduate students may do so either for credit (up to six hours) or on a volunteer basis.

Research assistantships and independent study opportunities are available for undergraduate students to work directly with a faculty member. Each semester, approximately 40 undergraduates participate in supervised research opportunities. Research projects for which faculty members are seeking student assistance are displayed on the bulletin board outside of the Main Office.

Involvement in research is highly recommended for students planning to pursue graduate study. Most graduate students also engage in supervised research, either as part of their responsibilities as a Research Assistant or in the completion of their master’s theses.
