  • Intended major in Education or Psychology.
  • Satisfactory academic achievement
  • Full time student status

Dr. Frank R. Terrant, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility Requirements:
  • ASU junior, senior, or graduate student
  • Major in Psychology.
  • Academic standing of 3.2 GPA in Psychology and overall
  • Full-time student status

WiSE Research and Travel Awards

WiSE (Wiley F. Smith Endowment) Awards support graduate and undergraduate student research and travel through the generosity of the family of Dr. Wiley F. Smith, who was the first chairperson of the Psychology Department.


Applications for Research Awards and Travel Awards cannot be accepted at this time due the current economic stituation. Normally, awards are made during three funding cycles per year. Dates of application for each cycle may be found below. Links to criteria, instructions, and application forms are below the table.

College of Arts and Sciences - "Do Unto Others Scholarship"
This scholarship recognizes outstanding scholarship and a history of sharing and helping others through volunteer work.
Eligibility Requirements:                 
  • Must be a full-time student majoring in people and community-oriented fields of work within the College of Arts and Sciences
  • Must have a current GPA of 3.25 or better
  • Must demonstrate verifiable financial need

College of Arts and Sciences - Richard A. Thomas Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes outstanding academic progress and leadership.
Eligibility Requirements:                 
  • Must have completed the freshman year and pursuing a major in the College of Arts & Sciences
  • Must demonstrate a verifiable need for financial support; a financial aid form must be on file
  • Must display success and progress in academics and exemplary leadership in one or more of the following areas: 1) service-learning component of an academic course, 2) community-based research, 3) international service-learning (either ASU or International Partnership for Service-Learning and Leadership sponsored), or 4) advancement of service-learning initiatives such as serving on the Student Service-Learning Task Force, serving as the Peer Leader of a Freshman Seminar class that is involved in service-learning, serving as speaker for a service-learning, etc.
