Forum on the Future of General Education at ASU

The General Education Task Force will hold an open forum on Friday, October 28, to discuss the work of the task force and to invite ideas and suggestions from faculty, students, and staff regarding the future of general education on campus. The Task Force was appointed by the Provost in January 2005 to conduct an overview of issues and approaches to general education and to establish a set of principles, a general model, and assessment measures for the general education curriculum at our university. The Task Force conducted focus group research with students and faculty in September and is currently collecting helpful information from campus programs and offices.

The forum will be on October 28 from 3-5 pm in the Linville Falls Room of Plemmons Student Union. It will be the first in a series of opportunities for members of the campus community to hear about the progress of the Task Force and to give feedback.

Further information about the Task Force and resources on general education can be found at the website: http://www1.appstate.edu/orgs/gen_ed/. Written comments may also be submitted to the Task Force blog on the website or to the Chair of the General Education Task Force, Susan Keefe (keefese@appstate.edu).
