The ASU Equity Office

 

The Equity Office is committed to providing all Appalachian State University students, faculty, and staff with a neutral and completely confidential starting place for obtaining information or advice about equity issues. In addition, the Equity Office works with other units on campus to raise awareness about equity and diversity issues.


A Celebration of Women Writers

 

The Celebration of Women Writers recognizes the contributions of women writers throughout history. Women have written almost every imaginable type of work: novels, poems, letters, biographies, travel books, religious commentaries, histories, economic and scientific works. Their goal is to promote awareness of the breadth and variety of women's writing.


WomensNet

 

WomensNet supports women's organizations locally, nationally and worldwide by providing and adapting telecommunications technology to enhance their work


The Women's Resource Project

 

This site is good general reference site for women's issues. It is hosted by the School of Information and Library Science (SILS) at UNC-CH.


Women's InSite

 

The goal at Women's InSite is to create a space on the Internet for women's insite, a safe and comfortable place for women to speak their thoughts, perceptions, feelings and experiences in their own authentic voices. They want to honor women's sensibilities, interests and concerns, creating an atmosphere in which women can share and connect.


Women Leaders Online

 

This site is geared at women leaders and political activism. Some goals and features of the site:

  • The first and largest women's advocacy group created on the Internet
  • Empowering women in politics, society, the economy, the media and cyberspace
  • Building a network of one million women (and sympathetic men)
  • Publishing regular action alerts on crucial issues
  • Organizing non-partisan grassroots lobbying and voter education
  • Encouraging pro-woman candidates

Community Breast Health Project

 

The mission of the Community Breast Health Project is to improve the lives of people touched by breast cancer by acting as a clearinghouse for information and support, providing volunteer opportunities for breast cancer survivors and friends dedicated to helping others with the disease, and serving as an educational resource and a community center for all who are concerned about breast cancer and breast health. The Community Breast Health Project is grass-roots, patient-driven, and committed to providing services free of charge.


Women's Health Weekly

 

This site provides access to a database of women's health-related articles on the Internet (4,000+!), a comprehensive list of international women's health conferences, and more information about Women's Health Weekly.

Note that this is a pay service. You can perform searches for free, which provide title and summary descriptions, but viewing or receiving article reprints requires that you pay for the service.

CDC Office of Women's Health

 

The site is maintained by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Office of Womens Health. It provides health information on a wide range of women's health issues.
