Catherine Morton never actually finished high school. She entered ASU's Admission Partnership Program at the end of her junior year in high school and completed her GED here at ASU in the summer of 1975. Catherine's affection for the university and belief in its unique flexibility in service to its students is anchored in that most productive and positive of beginnings.

After completing her freshman year at ASU, Morton transferred to the University of North Carolina School of Journalism where she focused in advertising. She graduated UNC in 1979 and returned to ASU to continue her post-graduate studies in business.

Catherine spent 17 years in the private sector, doing public relations and media buying for Grandfather Mountain. Eventually promoted to Marketing Director, Morton and her team won six Addys for the advertising campaign that included the popular "You Otter Be Here" billboards.

Ms. Morton was hired in the fall of 1997 to teach advertising copywriting and media planning. She has now settled in as an adjunct professor, teaching Foundations of Advertising and Introduction to Journalism. Catherine also works closely with the Advertising Club, bringing real-world experience and connections to club activities.

In addition to her duties here at the university, Ms. Morton is a free-lance magazine writer and webmaster for Grandfather Mountain.

Ms. Morton is also an advisor for the Ad Club. Visit the Ad Club's website.
