ASU Women's Club Activity Groups

Members of ASU Women's Club may participate in one or all of the
following activity groups. Each group decides its own meeting times.
Those days and times already determined by the activity group are listed.

Antiques - Informal meetings scheduled as wanted by members

Book Club, Day - The Daytime Book Club generally meets on the fourth Friday of each month at 10 AM at a member’s house or the county library. They will have a planning meeting on August 24th at the home of Carol Brown (carol@mlbrown.com). They will choose books for the coming year. The September book, to be discussed on September 22nd, will be A Home on the Field by Paul Cuadros.

Book Club, Evening - The Evening Book Club meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Public Library’s (on Queen Street) meeting room. A casual reading group. Contact Marilou Wheeler (marilouw@hotmail.com) or Kathryn Crepeau (doxology@bellsouth.net). This Fall’s books include: A Home on the Field by Paul Cuadros (September 10); These is My Words by Nancy Turner (October 8); Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen; Measure of a Man by Sidney Poitier; The Road by Cormac Mc Carthy and others.

Coffee and Conversation: This group meets on the second Thursday of each month at 10 AM at a member’s house for good conversation and coffee. For more information, please call Kay Bosworth at 264-2138.

Hiking - Chargers and Re-Chargers- Join us for invigorating hikes around the High Country. Jan Goodell (JPGBOONE@JUNO.com) will be the liaison for Wednesday and Saturday hikes.

Food Talk: An interest has been expressed to start this group. If you are interested in participating in this type of activity group please contact Claudia Mohler (mohlercg@Bellsouth.net).

Mah Jongg: A group of women interested in learning to play Mah Jongg and having a fun time invites you to join and learn with us. We are willing to teach anyone interested in joining us. We play usually on the first Monday evening of each month. Contact Rosemary Horowitz or Jackie Harris if you are interested.

Moms and Tots - The Moms and Tots Group meets twice a month at local parks, members homes and The Playhouse. It’s a great opportunity to meet other moms of preschool children. The kids have a great time too! Contact Laura Newmark if interested.

Needlework - The Needlework club meets every 2nd Monday of each month. If you are already an expert or would like to learn how, please join us.

Plant Swap - Trade garden ideas and plants at a Saturday morning Plant Swap in late April or early May. It’s a great time for experienced gardeners, and it’s a great way for those new to gardening (or with new homes or gardens) to get FREE plants that thrive here in the mountains. The plants are organized in a way that makes it easy to choose plants for sun or shade, for spring or summer bloom, or to rapidly cover steep banks.

Downhill Skiing - Let’s go skiing for FREE at Ski Beach Mountain on Monday Nights. Rental & Lessons are available for a small fee. Contact Kim Marland (kmarland@charter.net) if interested

Telephone Committee - The heart of any organization is communication. Help
be the heart of our club. Volunteer to remind members of upcoming events.
This is a grea t way to meet people.
