1. List the three objectives of this class.

List two LO and two GO items. What are the characteristics of LO and GO students. How would you describe yourself in terms of LO and GO.
 3. What was the primary purpose of the Pollio and Beck study? What three perspectives were examined?
 4. Summarize the procedures and results of Studies 1, 2, and 3.
 5. What is the fundamental attribution error? Give an example. What is reactance? Give an example. Relate these to Pollio and Beck's findings.

SAO,  GIST and Grades
 1. What are three predictors of grade-point-average (GPA)?
 2. What were four purposes of this study?
 3. What does the GIST measure?
 4. What does the SAO measure? List the six SAO orientations and give one sample question of each.
 5. What does it mean to say that a test is valid?
 6. Give the procedure and results of the study in which the GIST and SAO were used to predict college grades.
 7.  In the 'Discussion' section seven purposes were presented. List these seven purposes.
 8.  Although the SAO was developed for college studetns, the orientations that it measures are found in students of all ages. Give an example of how strucutre dependence, creative expression, reading for pleasure, academic efficacy, academic apathy and mistrust of instructors might affect 10-year olds.
