When preparing presentations, remember to stick to the main points.
Do not overburden us with unnecessary details. The aim of the
first group of presentation is to introduce us to the country that you
are working on. Do not go into music and art, but provide an
overview of the geography, economy, history , and major challenges
facing the country you are working on.
Read Bruce Chatwin's The Songlines pp. 23-29, 257-261
Begin to prepare team presentations on Australian art
Check out the updated
bibliography on Aboriginal Australian art and music.
Our first reading was: Holton, Robert (2000). “Globalization's
Cultural Consequences.” The Annals of the American Academy of Political and
Social Science 570: 140-52. [on reserve]. Read the article carefully and
prepare notes for discussion for our second meeting.
Remember that our meeting on February 5 is at the Electronic Medial Lab of
Belk Library for library instruction.
Remember to identify sources for slides and be ready to turn them
in soon
Check out for relevant music CDs at the music library and for
videos at Belk. You may want to use them in class. When
searching the library catalog, you can limit your search to Sound CD
or Videocassette.
If you want to share a library CD with the class, you will have to
let us know. We can check them out for a short period of
time.
