This wasn’t my first time in the church, but it was my first time with Alex.  Alex’s presence in the church, or probably any room for that matter, can only be described as such: a presence.  But it is one that cannot be ignored; it presses from all sides on every body with its incredible existence.  Alex permeates even the frigid air of the Mission with a passion and warmth, emitting from both his concern for our own knowledge, as well his love for his people and their traditions.  Silence expressed our awe and gratefulness for his imparting of knowledge as he told us his story, his family’s story, the Zuni story...Shannon
