What can I say about me?
The first thing would be, contrary to what you see on the following
pages, I hate to have my picture taken.
The second thing is that I love to travel. Sometimes I travel with
friends and sometimes I make friends on the way. Here are photos
of some of my trips with friends in chronological order: I got to
spend almost a month with my sister, Sheri, in Hungary
(also Austria, and the Czech Republic). She and I joined friends
from Boone in Vancouver, and Victoria,
British Columbia the next summer. Again, a few years later, Sheri
and I took a cruise of the Baltic
. AK and I went to visit Donna and Bill in Dallas
-- here is an infamous place. Janine and I had some great days in
New Mexico . Sheri, Janine and I did
a week and a half in Italy where we saw sites as diverse as Pisa
and Positano. And Greece
and Turkey were both spectacular with
my sister and all of the good friends
we made there. Sheri and I went to France in May 2003 and saw places
like the Corniche roads, Carcassonne,
Lourdes, Notre
Dame, the D-Day landing beaches, and
Chenonceau. Later that year, London
and some surrounding places were fun, like Canterbury,
Stonehenge, and the cliffs of Dover.
We did Christmas 2004 on a lovely cruise.
My friend Linda and I made a trip to Egypt in 2004. Here we are
at theValley of the Kings. The
pyramids were amazing and big -- but
Abu Simbel was my favorite. Alexandria
was also great. Those Greeks were everywhere. Even in Sicily....like
at Agrigento. Or the Greek
theater in Taormina.
You can see from these shots, eating and drinking tend to get lots
of play on my trips. A few other examples: Santorini,
Barbados, Antigua,
Biarritz. Oh, and a new one from on
the Christmas cruise. Same trip, different
lunch. There must be something about islands (or beaches) and
bars! While not actually drinking in the photo, here I am in my
favorite wine village, St. Emilion.
Or, how about in our hotel bar in Cairo?
Or a lovely lunch in Taormina, Sicily?
I also enjoy seeing various cultural and pop-culture sites. No
museum pics here, but some interesting places. Paris,
Jerusalem, Ephesus,
Corinth, St. Petersburg,
Wimbledon, Edinburgh,
Venice, Los Alamos,
and a handful of Spain shots --Madrid,
Sevilla, Cordoba,
El Escorial, and Mijas. How about Mount
Etna? I could stand a life where this garden
was mine in Italy. And, I have to feed my sports obsession. Here
I am with Sheri at the Final Four (second
year in a row). Syracuse won. And a newer one of me in Rome.
I also take students abroad. Let's start with
Paestum in southern Italy Spring 2005. My co-leader Susan and
I pose in Todi. Same group in Assisi.
Here, on trips to Israel and Jordan, we are near Sepphoris,
at the Sea of Galilee, at Petra,
and in the caves at Maresha. It looks
like I am going to have to do a search for student pix in England,
Scotland, Ireland, France (2001), but here are a few from the second
Italy trip: me and my friend and co-leader Lee in the Colosseum
and after a lovely Venetian day. And,
in an actual student photo, me and Jess in Pompeii.
I don't just travel. I like to hang out with my friends. The Cary
gang was always fun as are my friends in Boone.
Sometimes the places mix. Here are some pics from a weekend
with some Cary friends at my place.
We even dance on occasion.
Most people who know me also know I love clothes. Whether fancy,
silly, or something in between, I still
think dressing up is good. Here is a fun Halloween
picture.
You have already seen my sister in many pictures. Family is the
most important thing to me. Here I am with mom
and then with dad. I also added a shot with
my aunt and uncle.
