The Institute
A two-day conference November 14-15, 2008 at Appalachian at the Broyhill Conference Center.
This conference is endorsed by BIO SIGMAA, a special interest group of the Mathematical Association of America
This conference is focused on student research and educational issues. The goals of the conference are to:
- provide an opportunity for student presentations.
- allow students to learn about graduate programs and meet potential advisors.
- channel dissemination efforts of educational ideas integrating mathematics, computer science, and biology.
We will have a plenary speaker, a panel discussion, and student presentations. The panel session will feature faculty from established math-biology programs who will discuss preparation of students for graduate study in mathematical biology.
We hope the November timing will be attractive to students gearing up for either graduate school or job talks. Please join us during the fall color season in the high country!-Eric Marland and Rene Salinas
